Although lipstick has become less of an everyday thing for me in the last year or so, I’m still a big believer in its power. It can make you feel ready for anything, finish a look and best of all, experimenting with it is great fun.
It goes without saying that no one should ever feel like they have to wear any type of make-up. But what I find sad is how often I hear people say that they’d like to wear lipstick, but that it’s ‘too much’, or they don’t go anywhere to warrant wearing it. Which is why I want to talk about wearing lipstick to the Co-Op.
The thing is, life is short. And (within reason), if you want to do something, you should do it. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t put on a gorgeous matte red to pop to the supermarket. Why reserve feeling amazing for special occasions?
I think lots of us are scared to look like we made an effort. You might feel like all eyes will be on you if you wear something bold. Which means you’re missing out on a world of fun, just because you don’t want to be noticed. What’s wrong with being noticed?
A while ago at my local gym, I saw a more mature lady going to her aqua fit class wearing a red lip and a full smoky eye. That is perhaps taking my theory to the extreme, but it made me smile. You work that look wherever you damn well feel like it.
I’m not trying to tell anyone that they should be wearing lipstick. I’m just saying, at least every once in a while, be bold. You don’t need an occasion…just a walk down the bread aisle.
