June favourites

June was a good month. We’ve finally had some summer weather and I’ve been up to some fun stuff (posts on Lincoln and Liverpool if you want to read ’em). Here’s what I’ve been loving.

I bought an orchid in February time that cost me a fiver and is only now on its last legs – chalk me up as a card carrying orchid fan. I’ve acquired two this month and am well on my way to be an orchid hoarder. They’re beautiful, low maintenance and you get flowers for months for the same price as a bunch of fresh flowers. What’s not to love?

Strawberry gin

I tried this at the wonderful Baresca in Nottingham and really wanted a bottle for myself. I have a sweet tooth but I don’t think this is sickly sweet. It just has a nice hint of strawberry and the usual lovely refreshing taste of gin. Perfect for a summer’s evening! I recreate the Baresca version with fresh strawberries and basil.

Holiday Dumbo tsum tsum

I have to admit I used to think the tsum tsum thing was a bit odd. But since I loved collecting beanie babies as a kid, there’s something about tsum tsums that gives me a kick of nostalgia. Holiday Dumbo was a birthday present and his holiday shirt and sun cream on his trunk just make me chuckle. He’s basically my summer mascot. Sorry not sorry.

At Home With

I love listening to podcasts in the bath, and At Home With is my new jam. It’s by Anna from The Anna Edit and Lily of Lily Pebbles fame (both successful Youtubers, if you’re not into that kind of thing). In each episode they go to the home of a different inspirational woman to hear about her career, nosey in her wardrobe and generally have a good chinwag. Perfect bath time listening!

What have you been enjoying this month?

Oooh that strawberry gin sounds lovely! I LOVE orchids and you’ve just reminded me of my love for them, I think I need to go and “invest” in one. Especially as you say, they’re the same price as a bunch of flowers and last much longer!
