It’s a familiar feeling to most people who blog as a hobby.
I know what I should be doing to make my blog better. So why don’t I do it?
I work full time, as do lots of people who blog on the side. Lots of people manage it much better than I do. Here’s my list of excuses – hopefully it makes somebody feel better!
Publishing blog posts
This is kind of a big deal. I should really get around to blogging a bit more.
I never struggle for post ideas, but somehow they sit in Notes on my phone for months, waiting for someone to love them.
Replying to comments
I love it when someone leaves me a comment, especially when they have obviously read and enjoyed the post. So why don’t I reply to them?!
Teen magazines drilled into me at a young age that it’s desperately uncool to reply to something straight away.
This is an ethos I’ve taken into adulthood and usually, by the time I’ve waited an ‘acceptable’ amount of time, I’ve usually forgotten.
Great way to show appreciation for those much loved comments, eh?
SEO
I’m no SEO whizz, but there are things I know I should be doing. Honestly though, it’s all I can do to attempt posting once a week without going back and fixing old broken links. Aint nobody got time for that!
This is probably hurting my blog and at some point I am going to have to face up to the list of long-neglected SEO tasks that I should have been doing. But for now I’m just shutting the door on it, like a spare room full of ironing.
Approaching brands
I know that if I want to work with brands, I need to be proactive.
I should be researching who’s working with who, and coming up with ideas that I could pitch to blogger-friendly brands. I should have a media kit. But all that Netflix won’t watch itself now, will it?
Taking part in Twitter chats
Why does an hour feel like such a big commitment? I just never seem to be free at the right time for a whole sixty minutes to throw myself into a Twitter chat.
I enjoy them and they give your social media such a boost, but sometimes staring at my phone for an hour just feels too much. Call me lazy, because I probably am.
What blogging things should you be better at?
oh my god it’s seriously as if you a writing this post specifically about me haha I cantotally relate to all of them, especially number 1!! We can do this 👩🏼💻🙌

Hahaha, I’m with you on the last two, especially the Twitter chats. I always find I never get acknowledged when I do join so I have given up on them. Pinterest is my main tool xx
