When I heard Nottingham was holding it’s very own Cocktail Week, I signed up to the bloggers’ preview event quicker than you can say ‘make mine a margarita’.
Venues throughout the city will be taking part from 3 – 9 September, and many of them have created their own bespoke cocktails especially for Cocktail Week.
We got to try a few, starting at Las Iguanas. I have to say these were a bit sweet for my taste, but they are 2-4-1 all day every day which is a pretty generous offer.
Next up we went to Boilermaker which is one of my favourite Nottingham bars, now looking extra snazzy after a refit in June.
Boilermaker is a ‘secret’ bar, but it’s not just about the novelty factor. The drinks are excellent and their Cocktail Week creation is no exception.
Named LeftLimon (a take on the much loved Nottingham magazine Left Lion), it’s a refreshing blend of limoncello, cucumber and rhubarb (not to mention the vodka).
Boilermaker is famed for its quirky presentation, and the LeftLimon comes with a ‘Notts overhead’ quote. I love that you get to enjoy a bit of local humour while sipping on this one.
After Boilermaker, we went to Head of Steam to sample the Pink Elephant. This cocktail actually contained beer which is usually not a taste I’m a fan of, but it worked really well. I don’t like my drinks too sickly sweet so I really enjoyed this unusual twist.
Lastly we visited the beautiful Lace Market Hotel, for my favourite drink of the night.
The Espresso Patronus is a take on the classic espresso martini (my favourite cocktail!) but with flavours of chocolate and hazelnut. It contains Frangelico which gives it a really moreish hazelnut taste. A definite thumbs up from me!
Lucky for me my hen do is actually happening during Nottingham Cocktail Week, so I can safely say I’ll be sampling a few more of these creations – all in the name of local research!
If you’re not local, I highly recommend a little weekend away in Nottingham some time. We have so many amazing places to eat and drink – hit me up if you ever want recommendations!

This post is not sponsored but I was kindly given these drinks to try by the folks behind Nottingham Cocktail Week.
