It’s time to sit down with a cuppa and have a big ol’ wedding chat!
It’s almost two months since we tied the knot and the confetti has well and truly settled.
We had a really lovely day. Pretty much everything went better than I expected!
Things did go wrong – it’s true what they say – but it really didn’t matter.
The day started (after we watched the F1 Suzuka qualifying, obvs) with a blow dry with my usual hairdresser and then James and I got ready together. I had the lovely Rochelle O’Brien come and do my makeup.
Then it was time to get married! The service was such a weird experience, it was incredibly surreal and we both felt really nervous.
We had two lovely readings which were the only part I enjoyed! One of them was from ‘Oh the Places You’ll Go’ by Doctor Seuss. Our other reading was a sonnet from the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.
After that it was time to brave the cold and the rain for some photos. Remember that one day of horrific weather in October? That was our wedding day.
Our photographer, Amy, was great and definitely made taking the couple shots as un-weird as possible. I’m so happy with how they turned out.
And then came the fun stuff, the party! Our reception was at a tapas restaurant where we all mingled and drank sangria before dinner.
We had a little ‘snap station’ with my polaroid camera, which went down a treat. My dad did a great speech and then we all sat down for a crazy banquet of tapas. Halloumi fritters, padron peppers, crispy chicken wings, chorizo – you name it, we ate it.
After dinner there was more time to chat to everyone (and have a donut), before our taxis whisked us and our younger guests away to Rock City to party into the night.
I know going to a nightclub on your wedding day isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it was honestly brilliant. Black Cherry Lounge at Rock City plays such a good mix on a Saturday night – lots of 80s (some of it cool, some of it cheese), a bit of pop and loads of alternative classics.
When I told people at the bar it was our wedding day they didn’t know what to make of it!
So that was our day. I’m going to do some more ‘useful’ posts soon, with some tips for if you’re currently planning a wedding. Look out for those!

I love that you booked in time to watch the Formula One! Looks like it was such a colourful, cosy day – despite the bad weather! Congrats again! ❤

Aw thanks Nia! It was a happy accident but I’m glad we managed to fit it in, it made for a relaxed morning. Plus totally can do an anniversary trip to Japan now, win win!

I love how much you made the day yours – there’s so much pressure to conform but it’s important to stick to your guns and do exactly what you want! It sounds like such a lovely day and I love that you ended it in a nightclub!

Thanks Amy! It was definitely hard at times and I had a few wobbles…especially about the dress. But now I’m so happy with everything we chose 🙂 Also I read your wedding post approx. 737 times before writing this, haha
